SAM HANDY
Behave
'Behave' is the new single from singer-songwriter SAM HANDY
Hailing
from Berkshire, Sam has been turning heads within the music
industry ever since his early days of performing in small venues in his
hometown of Reading, and after receiving an abundance of support from his local
BBC Introducing network he is about to unveil his brand new single.
Behave’ is an
uplifting Pop/Rock anthem with a ‘real
70’s rock-and-roll personality’- is the next installment of his journey. The track is inspired by a handful of Sam’s favourite artists spanning across various
genres. As a huge fan of Prince, especially his use of sounds in his music, Sam
has taken inspiration from the use of retro synths to overdriven guitars and
outrageous sounds. Sam says,”I found a
lot of answers in his music whenever I was confused with mine. Prince was the
seed for a lot of the sounds and styles I used.”
The
track is also inspired by The 1975, as during the time of writing ‘Behave’ Sam
was listening to the band’s music frequently. He says,”I found a lot of
inspiration in the whole Pop Anthem sound they had going on in their latest
album'.
Sam revealed that the most
challenging part of making this track was recording the guitar solo and making
it perfect. He spent a around 5 weeks searching for a Fuzz
pedal that checked all of the boxes when it came to the guitar tone he was
looking for. After having found one, he spent a week in his room experimenting
with it, and eventually he had achieved the design and sound for the solo.
Following this, Sam and his production team did countless takes in the studio
in order to try and capture it. He says after “A couple coffees later, we had it!”
