NEW MUSIC: SAM HANDY (@samwellhandy) - Behave

SAM HANDY
 Behave

'Behave' is the new single from singer-songwriter SAM HANDY

Hailing from Berkshire, Sam has been turning heads within the music industry ever since his early days of performing in small venues in his hometown of Reading, and after receiving an abundance of support from his local BBC Introducing network he is about to unveil his brand new single.

Behave’ is an uplifting Pop/Rock anthem with a ‘real 70’s rock-and-roll personality’- is the next installment of his journey.  The track is inspired by a handful of Sam’s favourite artists spanning across various genres. As a huge fan of Prince, especially his use of sounds in his music, Sam has taken inspiration from the use of retro synths to overdriven guitars and outrageous sounds. Sam says,”I found a lot of answers in his music whenever I was confused with mine. Prince was the seed for a lot of the sounds and styles I used.”

The track is also inspired by The 1975, as during the time of writing ‘Behave’ Sam was listening to the band’s music frequently. He says,”I found a lot of inspiration in the whole Pop Anthem sound they had going on in their latest album'.

Sam revealed that the most challenging part of making this track was recording the guitar solo and making it perfect. He spent a around 5 weeks searching for a Fuzz pedal that checked all of the boxes when it came to the guitar tone he was looking for. After having found one, he spent a week in his room experimenting with it, and eventually he had achieved the design and sound for the solo. Following this, Sam and his production team did countless takes in the studio in order to try and capture it. He says after “A couple coffees later, we had it!”

NEW MUSIC: ROSE GRAY (@rosegrayworld) - BLUE E.P

 ROSE GRAY
BLUE E.P

East London singer-songwriter ROSE GRAY releases her debut EP 'Blue' this week.

A Brit School attendee greatly influenced by being brought up in a family full of creatives, at 16-years-old ROSE met producer Alan Nglish and the pair have been working together ever since. GRAY and Nglish have developed her soulful, free-spirited and timeless sound, that’s led by her powerful vocal ability. In 2016, ROSE signed to independent label AVNU Records.

Setting the bar high for an emerging musician, ROSE GRAY is ready to make a big splash in the music scene with this EP. Taking inspiration from soulful pop greats to create her own modern classics, ‘Blue’ encapsulates Rose’s versatility as a recording artist and makes her a worthy ‘One To Watch’.

Blue’, featuring three previously released singles ‘Give It All To You’, ‘Ring The Alarm’ (watch below) and ‘Morning Blues’ along with brand new track ‘We Get By’.

Produced by Alan Nglish (Cee Lo Green, Taio Cruz, Alessia Cara), the ‘Blue’ EP takes you on a journey of the different emotions people feel when faced with difficult situations and relationships, eventually overcoming them and finding yourself again.

Rose says: “The EP was written in a time of what I call having ‘the blues’ all the tracks are sort of different stages of that. I guess it’s like a little chapter in my life. Each track in the order of release follows a journey, it’s real personal but I hope people can connect with it on different levels. It’s a big sound, strings, horns, heavy drum beats and something more stripped back.”

With visuals to accompany all four tracks being directed by Graham Bryan - an important feature to the project which connects Rose’s love for film and music - the ‘Ring The Alarm’ video was filmed by Luca Cutiti, whose past music video credits include The Rolling Stones, Blur and Ellie Goulding.

The most recently posted video is for the emotional ballad 'We Get By'
